Choosing a Reliable Contractor

Choosing a Reliable Contractor

Choosing a contractor to install, service and maintain your system can be an intimidating and stressful decision causing many people to simply go with the biggest in the hopes that size will mean stability and skill. Some people tend to think the opposite that all the contractors are the same and pick randomly from a phone book looking specifically for small local outfits and low price. Who is right? The truth is never simple.

As a locally owned and operated company, Reliable Heating and Cooling focuses on the customer to be sure that when the job is done the customer is completely satisfied the system they purchased is on par with their expectations and that it was installed properly.

New homes are often rushed and poorly done due to low bidding and substandard products. Don’t trust just anyone when building your dream home. Come to the experts with fully licensed sheet metal workers and a dedicated knowledgeable duct designer, do it right the first time with Reliable Heating and Cooling.

Every system we touch is verified to be working correctly with our detailed checklist completed on every job verifying several different things:

  • No gas leaks
  • The safeties are working and would respond in case of problems
  • There is no carbon monoxide in the home
  • A combustion analysis to ensure that the furnace flame is burning cleanly and to ensure the condition of the heat exchanger in the furnace
  • Gas pressures are correct (Low or high gas pressures can cause ongoing problems and do serious long term damage to your furnace)
  • A temperature rise test to ensure that there is adequate air flow through your furnace; this will often help us find blockages in the ductwork such as dirty filters, blocked vents, dirty a/c coils and blocked secondary heat exchangers (Temperature rise is extremely important on a new furnace install as a high rise can drastically shorten the life of your furnace)

Twenty-four hours a day, 7 days a week we will respond to any call from an existing or new customer. Our Heating Protection Plan customers are given priority if there are time conflicts but all will be seen in a timely manner with the main focus being those with no heat. In the event of an evening call where the part is not in stock we will make every effort to open up a supplier in Ottawa to obtain that part and install it that night. At Reliable Heating and Cooling Adrian Ayotte - the owner/operator of the company - is the main service technician and, with 13 years of experience and a love for problem solving, he lives to ensure that no one who hires us goes without heat. Our company undergoes regular training through local suppliers as well as Bryant’s dealer training program.

No matter what contractor you choose, please ensure the following:

  1. The contractor has a TSSA number in plain view on their truck (It’s the law!)
  2. That the company you hire is fully insured and bonded
  3. That they are a recognized heating and cooling company and not crossing over from another trade as this is a very specialized industry
  4. Do they warranty their products and do they sell a recognized furnace brand? Companies that sell only appliances where a dealership is not needed often have no one to answer to other than the customer and will not respond when asked for service at a later date. Companies operating a dealership through companies like Bryant work hard to maintain good public relations as well as customer relations to ensure a strong relationship with their dealer company, and long term loyal customers.
